Nobu Tapas

Nobu is my guilty pleasure and I’ve probably splurged on it at least once a year over the last decade. Sometimes I’ve gone to the trouble of booking ahead for a table but frequently I’ve been a walk-in for the amazing tapas and drinks. On this occasion we hadn’t even brought the camera (next time!) but can’t help wanting to share the deliciousness and our general recommendations with iPhone photos, such as they are!

Firstly, you’d be crazy not to start with Edamame. It is the simplest thing on the menu but also the cheapest, and definitely the only thing you should even think about filling up on! The Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño is the epitome of flavour and my mouth is watering just typing it into my computer. We ordered a special too which I can’t find notes for (!) but it was some sort of proscuitto with jamon and it absolutely melted in the mouth. Lastly, we couldn’t go past the Black Cod Miso Butter Lettuce. Divine. You get four pieces, but on one occasion we definitely went back for a second four!

Drinks at Nobu are similarly inspired and scrumprious. I had the White Chocolate Passionfruit Martini, which blends Ketel One Vodka, a dash of passionfruit and a splash of white chocolate and vanilla syrup before sprinkling with white chocolate flakes. Ben had… something delicious. We can’t remember which cocktail it was so it must have been good!

Nobu is located in Crown Casino in the stretch along the river, pretty close to Crown Towers Hotel.
