Senses Restaurant

Senses Restaurant, Templestowe, is a little treasure only a few minutes up the road. We happened to go there during a gorgeous sunset on one of the first warm days of spring so we took the opportunity to sit outside while we enjoyed our drinks and meals.

First up we had the saganaki to share – but forgot to snap you a picture of that! This has happened with saganaki before! In any case it was very yummy. I ordered the garlic prawns… how very unlike me. 😉 The prawns in question were tiger prawns and there were a LOT of them! The sauce was such that I didn’t have a hope of finishing the meal but I did my best! The salad was a welcome addition and helped to cut trough the rich white wine cream sauce. Very tasty.

Ben resisted the burgers (though I’m sure he’ll be back for them another day!) and went for the lamb salad. The backstrap was very tender and went well with the tomatoes, red capsicum, Spanish onions, iceberg lettuce, feta cheese and olives. The lot was topped with a lemon and herb dressing.

Somehow we managed to find room for dessert! Separate stomachs for mains and sweets. The home made sticky date pudding (served with butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice cream) was as delicious as it sounded. The white chocolate and raspberry panna cotta with raspberry coulis was lighter and made it easier to drink my Toblerone cocktail. 😉

Check out our iPhone snaps of the menu and see what you’d order at this suburban gem. Or you can visit their website here.
