Siglo Rooftop Bar
Siglo is the rooftop terrace bar immediately above the legendary Supper Club on Spring Street. It can be a little bit hard to find if you’re not yet initiated… just brave your way through the unmarked door to the left of The European. It is well worth the climb! High over Spring Street, the Siglo rooftop terrace offers a view right across this beautiful old part of Melbourne. You can see the stunning turrets of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the middle distance and admire the impressive architecture of Parliament House just across the road.
The Good Stuff at Siglo
Most importantly though – the cocktails are freaking delicious! There’s also a very extensive wine list and what I am told is a pleasant variety of beer options. Cigars are a central feature so if you’re asthmatic you may wish to stick with the equally fabulous Supper Club below. As a non-smoker I was concerned that the smell of cigars might be overpowering, but there weren’t too many lit in the big space at any one time and they actually smelled okay! The flavours of the drinks and food definitely won out and weren’t diminished at all by anything else wafting around in the cool night air. For those who love the odd cigar (to celebrate a milestone or to pretend to be a gangster – whatever…) then this is absolutely the place for you.
Even Siglo Closes Eventually!
It was many, many, many hours before we wandered back to our car which awaited us ever so patiently in the Fed Square parking facility nearby. It is so wonderful to be able to attend such a fantastic venue that stays open so late – for the sake of the night owls in all of us. I will definitely be back to try more of the nibbles and cheeses… as well as more of the cocktails of course!
