Three Red Stripes, Doncaster
Whenever I eat Vietnamese food I always find the experience super fresh and super zingy. You can usually fill-up without feeling heavy… and if you do happen to feel like you’re about to burst it is probably the delicious soup and healthy twists of lettuce and other greens that are filling you up! I have been so excited to find Phò (pronunced “Fur”!) popping up all around Melbourne recently. The meal we enjoyed at Three Red Stripes certianly impressed us.
Phò is a type of Vietnamese noodle soup. It contains broth, rice noodles called bánh phở (which look like linguine), some herbs, and of course meat – usually either beef or chicken. I’ve always been drawn towards the rare beef Phò because it is so tender and cooks in the broth as you stir in your extra ingredients.
Three Red Stripes offers Phò priced between $11 and $13 depending on the type. The portion sizes are good, the staff are speedy and polite. We also had some very tasty spring rolls and zingy prawn salad.
We forgot to take a snap of the menu so you’ll have to check it out here.
